Know Me

I have come to terms with the fact I was an Artist wannabe;
Now I no longer need to be a this, a that, I'm ok as Me.
I am as God intended Me to be!

About This PAG Web Site

In the Spring of 2007, I volunteered to create a web site for the Phoenix Artists Guild since they had none at that time, and they needed a web site to serve their membership and the organization's needs online and also to interface with the cyber world of online existence. The PAG President, Julie Frye, and I began the work in progress, a "Web Portrait" computer designed Art work, using the Phoenix Artists Guild organization as subject. As creator of this "Portrait", I am the sole owner of it. I have listened to and implemented suggestions given to me by members and others to make the web site more serviceable and of greater interest to its visitors. The result today is what has evolved over the last two years.

This web site is different than other Art organizations' web sites in that it is an original Art portraiture design creation and it was created entirely via my donation of time, money, and computer environment resources. I researched and collected information needed to give the web site form and function and it is now serving the needs of the Phoenix Artists Guild as its first pilot web site. It has been a learning experiment for me acquiring skills needed for developing and maintaining web sites. At the same time, doing this web site was also a learning experience for those members of Phoenix Artists Guild not familiar with web sites or computers and I have assisted in their user education.

The present web site should not be judged as anything other than an educational aid constructed to achieve goals of familiarizing the PAG organization with the technical aspects of web site development and implementation. It has achieved its goal so that the next step for the organization might be to develop another web site now reflecting what they have learned from this one and one that they can say they developed their selves.

The font color I chose for this web site, a medium dark brown, harmonizes with the desert landscape background. My favorite colors, the colors of nature and that of the desert scenery that surrounds Phoenix, Arizona our home, were my design palette choices: turquoise (an Arizona native color), gold, copper, and sage green. As an accent I have added bright coral red where I felt it belonged and to express the vitality of the PAG organization and its membership. The background with turquoise borders, features the saguaro cactus, the much loved icon of the Sonoran desert, and I especially love Arizona's spacious clear blue skies and mountains that are shown in the background.

Phoenix Bird Web Site Avatar Animation
A stylized rendering of the legendary Phoenix Bird is a graphic created while working on the PAG Web Pages and it has a life of its own that    I,   its creator,    have endowed with shape, form, color, personality, and a name, "Inspire". It is a PAG Web Site Mascot/Avatar, and "Inspire" exists to keep me company while working on the web HTML coding.

In designing this web site, my intent was to create a mood that would be subtle and serenely natural, be non stressful to visit, and be an esthetic and enthusiastic cyber environment for the content that Phoenix Artists Guild members to share with site visitors. The table background behind most of the text content is a textured silver with silver borders and is neutral so as not to distract from the photos or text messages.
I am a nature lover and have grown to love the Arizona landscapes, flora, fauna, and respect its legacy and legends so that is what I chose to include in this web design. This web site expresses my love for the many and varied beautiful Arizona natural landscapes, flora, fauna, legends, and both its history and its ecology.

...or if you prefer watch the YouTube version below.

Palm trees wave, are you listenin'
In the pool, water's glistenin'
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland

Gone away is the blizzard.
Here to stay is the lizard.
A warm sunny day, we like it that way,
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland.
In the desert we will have a picnic
Cactus, sand and rattlesnakes and sun,
Christmas dinner is an old tradition,
Its tamales, beans and tacos by the ton.

Later on, we'll perspire,
Temperatures rise even higher,
A warm sunny day, we like it that way,
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland.
